ONE DIES AS TRUCK PLUNGES INTO RIVER

One person died while eight others sustained serious injuries Sunday morning when a truck fell into a river at Abaji, along the Abuja- Lokoja highway.

An eyewitness said the accident occurred when the truck without number plate veered off the road while on top speed and plunged inside the river, leaving one person dead.
Our reporter learnt that the truck driver was over speeding on a sloppy road while approaching the bridge at Abaji, when he suddenly lost control.

The Abaji Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Joseph Ojerinde, attributed the accident cause to speed violation, saying the corpse has been deposited at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital’s Morgue, while the injured passengers are receiving treatment at Abaji General Hospital.
