The Federal Road safety Commission, Ondo State Sector Command has said that it will impose heavy sanctions on any driver arrested for overloading. The sector Commander of the FRSC in the State, Benjamin Sani said this in Akure on Thursday 25 th September 2008 during the launching of this year’s ERMBER months safety campaign held at the Oke – Ijebu ultra Modern Park in Akure.

Sani noted that to deter motorists and Okada riders from overloading, the FRSC has increased the fine for overloading to Ten Thousand Naira (10,000). He said that the Commission would begin to enforce the wearing of safety helmets by motorcycle (Okada) riders from 1 st January 2009.

He advised that since accidents do no just happen without a cause, everyone must ensure strict adherence to the established traffic rules to avoid road accidents.
