TRAFFIC ALERT- DRIVING IN THE RAINS: FRSC APPEALS FOR CAUTION

The Federal Road Safety Corps has reiterated its appeal to the Nigerian motoring public on the need to more safety consciousness throughout the rainy season while plying the highways.

This appeal in coming on the heels of heavy rainfall witnessed across the country in the last one week with attendant traffic hazards to road users and the need to conform with specific standards for vehicle maintenance and obedience to traffic rules and regulations.
For avoidance of doubt, motorists are strongly advised to ensure effective maintenance of vehicles with specific attention to head/tail lights, traficators, brake system, horn, wipers, tyres and wind screen.

Meanwhile, motorists are advised to desist from driving whenever it is raining but if the rain starts while driving, it is safer to park till it subsides or drive at common sense speed limit.

In the same vein, proper attention should be given to tyre routine maintenance in view of its direct link with the vehicle and the road. It is important to always note and comply with prescribed tyre pressure because lower air pressure results in adverse effect in driving stability and wears out tyre edges while over inflated tyre results in hard and bumpy movement of a car.
The Federal Road safety Corps wishes to reiterate its commitment to an enduring legacy in road traffic administration and safety management even as motorists are warned to strictly comply with traffic rules and regulations to ensure sanity on the highways.
