FRSC INJECTS MORE FUND INTO FIELD OPERATIONS

In continuation of its repositioning, Management of the Federal Road Safety Commission has injected more funds into its field operations as part of measures to boost performance in the various formations across the country.

According to the Commission, this allocation which will be implemented on a quarterly basis is deliberately initiated to re-awaken routine patrols and rescue activities in the Field Commands.

Under this arrangement, the Zonal Command Headquarters will co-ordinate disbursement of this special allocation among other component Commands to beef-up operations in areas such as acquiring dedicated hotlines for prompt response to emergency situations and routine maintenance of patrol vehicles and motor bikes.

In a related development, the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Mr. Osita Chidoka has mandated Officers and men of the FRSC to step up their commitment to an accident-free Ember Month Campaigns in view of traffic peculiarities associated with the season.

Giving this directive during a working tour of Imo and Abia States Sector Command, the Corps Marshal reminded staff of the Commission of the onerous task of ensuring sanity on the highways through effective public enlightenment, improved operation and subtle approach in prosecuting erring motorists as the hallmark of road traffic accident reduction.

It would be recalled that the Corps Marshal formally decorated the Governor of Imo State, Mr. Ikedi Ohakim as Patron of the Special Marshals Unit during the visit.

After the decoration, the State Governor led a Special Patrol along major highways in the State Capital, accompanied by the Corps Marshal, Staff of the Commission and other dignitaries.
