CORPS MARSHAL VISITS ZARIA AND KANO COMMANDS
The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Osita Chidoka, has identified road transportation as a core component of that deserves priority attention.
Making this observation during a courtesy visit at the Kano State Government House, the Corps Marshal stated that the ancient city of Kano is strategically located as commercial nerve centre of the country and accounts for heavy human and vehicular movement towards the city.
He therefore solicited for the partnership of the State Government in the drive towards road traffic accident reduction.
He further disclosed plans by the FRSC Management to establish a Driver’s License Processing Centre in Kano specifically for female drivers.
In his response, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Mohammed Gwaro frowned at the spate of increase in road carnage and pledged the partnership of Kano State Government with the Commission to cope with traffic trends.
He however, emphasized the need for grass root - oriented safety campaigns in order to make the desired impact on the driving conduct of motorists in Nigeria.
In a related development, the Corps Marshal has charged Officers and men of the Commission in Zaria Unit and Kano State Sector Command to align themselves to the FRRSC Management which places more emphasis on improved service delivery.
He reiterated the Management policy thrust on anti-corruption and transparency.
The Corps Marshal also inspected the Kano State Number plate replacement centre.
