FRSC GIVEN A PARCEL OF LAND FOR OFFICE DEVELOPMENT IN JEBBA, KWARA STATE.

In support of the FRSC Operations in the country, a concerned Nigerian citizen Community, Kwara State , Deacon SO Okedare has on behalf of the Okedare family of Jebba, donated a parcel of land measuring 50ftx200ft to the FRSC, Jebba Unit Command for the development of an office building. This action, according to him is in appreciation of the various activities of the Federal Road safety Commission and the belief that the FRSC presence will enhance further development in Jebba town.

FRSC NOMINATED INTO THE FCT ANTI CAR SNATCHING COMMITTEE

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FCT Sector Command, Abuja has again been nominated to serve on the membership of the FCT Anti Car Snatching Committee. The

Anti car snatching committee is saddled with the responsibility of assisting the police in addressing the problems of car snatching in the Federal Capital territory with the following terms of reference.

a. Conducting security survey on car snatching black spots in the FCT.

b. Analyzing the following car snatching black spots in the FCT with a view to identifying receivers/end users and bringing them to book

c. Engaging in complimentary covert security and intelligence activities to identify groups with a view to eliminating them from the FCT.

e. Promoting vehicle security education in line with modern techniques.

The committee has since been inaugurated and swung into action.

 

FRSC RECOVERS LARGE SUMS OF MONEY AT ACCIDENT SCENE

The Federal Road Safety Commission, Sabon Wuse Unit Command in Niger State on 17th December, 2007 recovered large sums of money at an accident scene belonging to one Rev. Sr. Genevieve Osayame of the St Christopher’s Catholic Parish, Kwamba – Suleija, in Niger State. The money recovered include, Six Hundred and Thirty Euros (E630), Three Hundred and Ten (310) pounds Four Hundred and seventy (470) Cefas, Fifty Nine ($59) Dollars and Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty Naira (N5, 320) only. Already, a letter of appreciation signed by the Parish Priest of St Christopher’s Catholic Church, Kwamba and addressed to the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the FRSC, commends the behavior of the FRSC Officers and men during the operations as unique that needs every encouragement.

 

2008 PDP NATIONAL CONVENTION: FRSC RECEIVES A PAT ON THE BACK

The operations of the FRSC was given a warm commendation during the recently concluded National Convention of the ruling People’s Democratic Party held at the Eagles square in Abuja.

This commendation was given by the Chairman, Planning Committee for the convention and Defence Minister, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed during the committee’s several meetings. The Commission’s representatives at the committee were led by the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Operations, Mr. AK Browne fwc. During the planning sessions, they had amply demonstrated their managerial and organizational skills which were applauded by the organizing committee. The Honorable Minister in company of other eminent Nigerians, had expressed total appreciation of the good work done by the FRSC throughout the programme.

It will be recalled that the Federal Road Safety Commission had drafted over Three Hundred (300) of its staff to control traffic at the venue of the convention. The FRSC and other sister security organizations including the Police, the SSS, the Civil Defense Corps etc had been deeply involved in the security committee that assiduously worked round the clock towards enhancing a hitch-free National Convention which was held on Saturday 15th March 2008.

 

ARMED ROBBERS ATTACK FRSC PATROL TEAM IN ORLU, IMO STATE.

Armed robbers on Friday, 11 April 2008 attacked the FRSC patrol team in Orlu, Imo State. During the attack, an Officer and leader of the FRSC patrol team was shot on his shoulders leaving him unconscious for many hours. He was however rushed to the Orlu general Hospital for medical attention. Report from the Orlu Unit Command confirms that the Officer has since regained consciousness and is responding to treatment.

 

FCT SECTOR COMMAND LAUNCHES ‘OPERATION FLUSH’ IN ABUJA

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FCT Sector Command on Wednesday 9th April 2008 launched “Operation Flush” to sanitize vehicular operation on the township roads in Abuja. The operation which covered the entire Abuja municipal area was supported with a Mobile Court on ground to carry out an on-the-spot prosecution of erring traffic offenders. A total of 82 drivers were tried for sundry road traffic offences in the process. Two drivers whose names were given as Ade Olaitan and Tunde Lawal were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms. A statement from the Sector Commander, FCT Sector Command, Nseobong Akpabio confirmed that the convicted drivers, Ade Olaitan was sentenced to a 2 months jail term with a fine of N9,000.00 (Nine Thousand naira) while Tunde Lawal was sentenced to a jail term of two months in addition to fine of N12,000.00 (Twelve Thousand Naira and another compulsory payment of Forty Thousand Naira (40,000.00) for the repair of the FRSC Patrol vehicle on which he had caused a damage.

 

FRSC IMPOUNDS BUS WITH 17 CHILDREN IN ABUJA

The FCT Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission on Monday 14th April 2008 impounded a bus carrying 17 boys between the ages of seven (7) and fifteen (15) suspected to be trafficked from Shendam, Plateau State by one Mallam Zubairu Hassan who claimed to be their teacher. According to the Sector Commander of the FCT Sector Command, Nseobong Akpabio, the bus was sighted by the FRSC patrol team coming on a high speed and had refused to stop for routine check. Consequently, the FRSC team had alerted another team which intercepted the bus and found in it 17 boys. When interrogated, Mallam Zubairu had informed the Sector Commander that he had been with the boys for the past three months as an Islamic teacher with the full consent of their parents. Already, Mallam Zubairu Hassan has been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further investigation.

FCT SECTOR COMMAND NOMINATED INTO TECHNICAL COMMITTEE OF THE G6 SUMMIT ON SECURITY

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FCT Sector has been nominated as member of the Technical Committee of the G6 Summit on security.

The G6 Summit on security is a joint security committee held between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and the Governors of Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger and Kaduna states, all in the middle belt region of Nigeria. The G6 Committee has in its terms of reference among other things, identifying security lapses within the zone and developing effective strategies towards curtailing the growing incidences of crime within its area.
