FRSC ARRAIGNS STAFF FOR LANE INDISCIPLINE An Officer and a Marshal from the Suleja Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps are now facing internal disciplinary trial for driving against the traffic. The men were apprehended by the internal surveillance team of the Corps along the Kubwa\Abuja highway. The culprits who have been issued a ticket for Route Traffic Violation(RTV )for payment of a fine of three thousand naira(N3,000.00) are also been charged with the offence of interfering with Marshals acting in the lawful execution of their duties ,contrary to section 18 of the FRSC Regulations on Maintenance of Discipline. At the end of the trial, the two were awarded a punishment of major entry each meaning that they will pay a fine of two thousand naira to the coffers of the government. Speaking on the incident, the FRSC Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Operations, Boboye Oyeyemi said the punishment was metted out to the offending staff of the Corps to serve as a deterrent to others. He therefore warned Officers and Marshals of the Corps to live above board by complying with traffic rules and regulations so as to serve as shining examples to other road users. In a related development, two accused persons, Samaila Usman and Sanusi have been arraigned before a Gombe Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly inciting a mob against a patrol team of the Gombe State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps. The accused who were arrested by the Police on 25 th August, 2009 were ordered to be remanded in prison custody till 14 th September by the presiding Magistrate when their case will come up for further hearing. Samaila Usman was accused to have on August 19 th this year, ridden a motorcycle in a dangerous manner when he was accosted by men of the Gombe State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) patrol team who were on a special patrol. As the offender’s motorcycle was about to be impounded, he attacked one of the patrol team members and inflicted bodily injury on him and used his mobile phone to call hoodlums to mob the patrol team. The two accused persons were however apprehended by a combined team of Policemen from the Gombe State Police Command while the other hoodlums took to their heels. Meanwhile the Police are in search of other thugs involved in the mob action for prosecution. Additional Information :
