CORPS MARSHAL CONDOLES THE FORMER PRESIDENT BABANGIDA The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osita Chidoka on Tuesday, January 26 led the management team of the Corps on a condolence visit to the former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State. During the visit, the Corps Marshal expressed shock and sadness of the entire Officers and Men of FRSC over the death of the former First Lady, Mrs Maryam Babangida whom he described as “an icon, kind and warm mother”, not only to her children, but the entire nation. “Today is our management meeting day, and in identifying with the good work she has done, I decided to come with my management team to commiserate with you and the entire family over this great loss. She was indeed, an icon”, he said. While praying God to grant her soul grace, Chidoka further described her as an “exemplary woman” and advised other Nigerian women to “emulate her good example as a champion of women empowerment and role model to the African mothers”. “May God give the family and indeed, the nation the fortitude to bear this great loss”, he further prayed. While responding, the former President congratulated the Corps Marshal and members of his management team for the good work they are doing. He thanked the entourage for the visit and prayed for their safe journey back home. It would be recalled that Mrs Maryam Babangida died last month in an American Hospital from complications resulting from cancer and had since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
