CEMENT TRAILER FALLS OVER ALONG ABUJA – KEFFI ROAD

Trailer carrying cement along Abuja – Keffi road skidded and overturned near Karu overhead bridge knocking down two commercial motorcyclists.

The Unit Commander of the FRSC Nyanaya Unit Command OG Apochi (ACC), disclosed that the driver and the two passengers in the trailer sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital, while the two motorcyclists had minor bruises.

According to the Unit Commander, the trailer had a burst tyre while descending the Karu – Nyanya slope and lost control crashing by the side of the road. He also informed that a thick cloud of cement dust hung over the Abuja – Keffi road by the Karu site road junction after the accident, making it difficult for motorists to drive through the express way and around the small town. The road was covered with cement and traffic jam built up from Abacha Barracks junction to Karu junction

Officials of the FCT Fire Service who arrived the scene of the accident an hour after were advised not to flush the cement on the road, so that it would not make the road slippery for driving.

At the time of this report, men of the Nigeria Police, traffic wardens and officials of the FRSC from the Nyanya Unit Command were seen trying to control traffic amidst the cement fog.
