FRCS TO ENGAGE IN URBAN TRAFFIC CONTROL
Determined to ensure an optimum utilization of its productive workforce, the Federal Road safety Commission is embarking on a programme of deploying its staff to control traffic at strategic junctions and crossroads in the municipal areas throughout the country. The decision to deploy patrolmen to traffic control duties is informed by the consideration toward among other imperatives, ensuring presence of the Commissions staff in the urban areas, complementing the activities of the commissions motorized highways programmes and a full utilization of its staff for optimum productivity.
A statement fro the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Operations of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. AK Browne directs all field Commanding Officers to draw up a comprehensive programme and strategy towards an effective realization of this new operational order. This new programme which is to take off throughout the country will be an essentially foot patrol involving traffic control, monitoring and traffic count.
