JOINT TAX BOARD ADOPTS FRSC ROAD MAP ON DRIVERS’ LICENCE

The 118 th meeting of the Joint Tax Board (JTB) ended in Kano State recently with the adoption of a proposal from the Federal Road Safety Commission for the establishment of one-stop-shop for the processing and issuance of Drivers’ Licence across the country. This is one of the components of the Road map for improved service delivery on the National Uniform Licensing Scheme presented by the FRSC to the JTB at the meeting.

Making a presentation, the FRSC Corps Marshal and Chief Executive, Osita Chidoka stressed the need to improve on national security through an evidence-based data bank on drivers’ licence and other components of the National Uniform Licensing Scheme as part of the Commission’s 4-year rolling plan.

The Corps Marshal disclosed the resolve of the FRSC to key into the 7-point agenda of Mr. President through an integrated information technology–based operations with online traffic offenders register as well as annual injection of 250 operational vehicles for effective patrols and rescue operations.

In her response, on behalf of the Joint Tax Board, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mrs. Ifueke thanked the FRSC Management for its concerted efforts towards overhauling the National Uniform Licensing Scheme as a boost for national security and growth.

Meanwhile, the Board has appealed to the National Assembly to accelerate work on passage of the four tax bills before it in order to enhance tax administration in Nigeria. These bills include the Personal Income Tax Amendment, Petroleum Profit Tax, National Sugar Development Council and the Customs Excise Tariff Amendment Bills.
