FRSC RENEWS PARTNERSHIP WITH FERMA ON ROAD SAFETY

The Federal Road Safety Commission has described the collaboration with the Federal Road Maintenance Agency on road traffic count as a deliberate strategy towards having evidence-based statistics for effective management of road traffic in Nigeria.

Speaking during a courtesy visit at the corporate headquarters of FERMA in Abuja, the FRSC Corps Marshal and Chief Executive, Osita Chidoka commended the management of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency for building and donating 42 Help Centres nationwide for the FRSC in order to ensure prompt response to road traffic accidents, adding that the gesture is commendable in view of global consciousness on road traffic accident reduction.

While describing FERMA as an institution which represents realistic transformation of the nation’s socio-economic fortunes due to over reliance on road transportation for movement of goods and services, the Corps Marshal further stressed that it was an economic imperative for the Government to invest in the country’s road infrastructure. He therefore urged the Roads Maintenance Agency to replicate last year’s rehabilitation of the highways in view of the need to ensure accident-free movements during the ember months and yuletide season.

n his response, the Managing Director of FERMA, Engr. Bunmi Peters identified the FRSC as an ally in ensuring sanity on the nation’s highways and reiterated his Agency’s readiness to partner with the FRSC in making Nigerian roads safer
