EUROPEAN UNION DONATES COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT TO FRSC

In recognition of its contribution towards sustainable development in Nigeria, the Federal Road Safety Commission was among four government agencies that received communication equipment and computer facilities from the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme.

Speaking during the formal presentation of the items, the European Delegation stated that the equipment were procured for the use of the EU Election observation mission which monitored Nigeria’s 2007 general elections.

The items include Units of codan Radio, CODAN GPS Receiver, Motorola Hand held Radio, Nokia cell phones and car charger which were also presented to the National Bureau of statistics, the National Hospital; and the National Human Rights Communication to enhance their Operations.

Receiving the items on behalf of FSRC Management, the Assistant Corps Marshal Operations, Dele Browne Commended the collaborative efforts of the European Union and United Nation’s Development Programme for empowering the Federal Road Safety Commission towards effective service delivery through donation of the equipment.

The presentation is the second time, Nigerian Institutions are benefiting from the EU equipment donation. It will be recalled that the European Union Election observation Mission was deployed to Abuja from 14 March to 7 May, 2007 in line with United Nations declaration of principles for International Election observation in October 2005 to ensure comprehensive assessment of election process to conform with international standards for democratic elections.
